Why Is Betty Crocker Rainbow Chip Perfect for Cake Pops?
Betty Crocker cake mixes are a popular choice for making homemade cake pops in the United States.
They're incredibly easy to prepare: simply add eggs, vegetable oil and water. You don't even need an electric mixer! A regular whisk is enough to prepare the batter in just a few minutes.
The colourful sprinkles create a fun surprise inside every cake pop.
Best of all, with our Partysweets Steam Method, you can turn your freshly baked cake into perfectly mouldable cake pop dough without adding buttercream or frosting!
How to Make Cake Pop Dough Without Frosting – The Partysweets Steam Method
Want to make cake pops that aren't overly sweet or greasy? At Partysweets, we use the Steam Method to transform freshly baked cake into soft, mouldable cake pop dough.
The secret is processing the cake immediately after baking, while it is still hot. The retained heat and steam help the cake crumbs bind together during mixing.
This means there's no need to add buttercream or frosting.
How to Make Funfetti Cake Pop Dough:
Prepare the Betty Crocker Rainbow Chip Cake Mix according to the package instructions.
Grease a baking tin, such as a brownie pan, and optionally line it with baking paper for easy removal.
Bake the cake according to the instructions until fully baked.
Important: remove the cake from the tin immediately after baking and transfer it to the bowl of your stand mixer while it is still hot.
Using a paddle attachment or dough hooks, immediately mix the warm cake until it forms a smooth, cohesive, mouldable cake pop dough.
Allow the cake pop dough to cool sufficiently before portioning and shaping.
Shape your Funfetti Cake Pops using your favourite My Little Cakepop® mold or Daisy Makes® Cutter & Popper Set.
Dip the cake pops in Deco Melts or tempered chocolate and decorate with colourful sprinkles.
Why Make Cake Pops Without Buttercream?
Traditional cake pop recipes often combine crumbled cake with buttercream or frosting. This can make the dough overly sweet and greasy.
Excess fat can also transfer onto paper cake pop sticks, causing white sticks to develop yellow stains.
With the Partysweets Steam Method, you can create delicious, mouldable cake pop dough without adding extra buttercream.
Perfect for a Quick Funfetti Birthday Cake Too!
